Hear from Scholarship Winners:

“I was so honored to walk away with a total of $24,000 in scholarship that I am able to apply towards medical school.
As the recipient of the STEM scholarship, I am so excited to continue using this as a platform to reach other women in STEM and tell them about the Miss America Foundation and the incredible opportunities there are for young women.”

Vivian Zhong

“I had the opportunity to serve as Miss Iowa 2018 and I now serve as the local executive director for the Miss Clinton County Scholarship Award Program.
The Miss America foundation truly set me on a trajectory to succeed and I am so forever grateful for all opportunities throughout my journey.
And that is exactly why I continue to give back to this organization because I believe that it is so important to empower women because women empowered me to be where I am today.”

Mikhayla Hughes-Shaw

“Through the Miss America Foundation, I have earned $33,000 in scholarships including the Women in Business Award.
Because of this, I have been able to afford a Bachelor’s Degree from Syracuse University and a Master’s Degree from the University of Missouri. Now I am a speech language pathologist.
I am so honored and grateful to be involved with a program that believes in women’s education and leadership.”

Meghan Sinisi

“As a teen, I gained over $10,000 in scholarships. Now, I have gained over $50,000 from the Miss America Foundation.
The important thing is there are women whose worlds are changed forever because of the Miss America Foundation.
Because of the scholarship money I’ve earned, I am able to work towards my Master’s Degree in educating the next generation of newscasters.”

Alyssa Sullivan

"My mother lost her job while I was a D1 collegiate athlete running track and field for Oklahoma State University.
During that time, I had received the call that I had an outstanding balance for the semester that would keep me from attending classes and running for the team.
I was put in a place to find a solution quickly which was when I came across a local pageant that was not only offering scholarship money but would qualify the winner for Miss Oklahoma 2016. I chose to compete in the hopes of obtaining scholarship money to help my mother pay for school and ended up winning the title and $1200 towards my tuition.
Although I had no prior experience and did not win the overall title of Miss Oklahoma 2016, I left with $1800 towards school and networking opportunities to expand my community involvement. Not to mention putting down the amount gained helped us exponentially to afford the rest.
However, I saw that the woman who had won received over $30,000 of scholarship money and prizes that extended throughout her reign.
I chose to return the next year as Miss Oklahoma City, taking me to Miss Oklahoma 2017. I received coaching, re-developed my social initiative “Bridging the Great Cultural Divide,” taking talking points on the importance of cultural compassion and celebrating the beauty of diversity across the state.
I re-evaluated my goals, challenged myself enough to grow to be able to handle the job of Miss Oklahoma, and after months of preparation, I not only won overall talent (scholarship money) but the title of Miss Oklahoma 2017 and over $30,000 towards my student loans leaving me an incredibly small amount of money left to pay off within the same year of graduating from college, a car, and a place to call home for myself.
I developed networking skills and friendships with people and corporations like Nike Inc.- N7 fund, where we continued the efforts of Bridging the Great Cultural Divide on a National level, working with Oklahoma leaders and tribal nations across the Nation, becoming an spokesperson and ambassador for The Chickasaw Nation and Boys, Girls Club Native Services, American Heart Association, and emcee/host/speaker for events and notable celebrities such as Tyra Banks, along with many other exciting opportunities all thanks to the contacts, scholarships gained, and experiences from winning Miss Oklahoma and competing at Miss America 2018.
My life truly changed forever."
Triana Brown, Miss Oklahoma 2017
